Ello, sorry in advance for writing such a long boi, but I’m not writing this out of boredom and I’m hoping this will lead to a long-term friendship filled with shared interests, good times and genuine care. My name’s Mika. I’m 28 and genderfluid. Time zone AST/EST (-4). I'm pretty individualistic and non-judgmental. Also, patient and considerate. I genuinely find diversity incredible, and I live by the simple idea of not being toxic to others. Considering, I can and do enjoy the unusual things: alternate life styles, taboos, gross things, macabre stuff, you name it. So go ahead, be strange, unconventional, earthy. And if you happen to be a sexual minority you’re okay. I developed social anxiety at a fairly young age, but I’m doing a lot better – maybe due to the psychedelics but I’ve also been going to therapy for a few years. I'm actually at a point where I want to experience what the world has to offer. Having not been in control of my anxiety for so much of my life you can imagine there's a lot to experience... and I'm all about it. I'm eager to resume once the quarantine ends. As I said earlier I'm genderfluid; biologically male. Being genderfluid is something I've only recently embraced. As far as sexual orientation goes, I'm not exactly sure. But we can talk about it; sexuality stuff is interesting. I guess maybe you could consider me an extreme mix of pansexual and demisexual.
Music
Ay if the beat slaps I like it. I have a talent for drumming and I've gone to lessons; saving up to by my own kit. But most of what I listen to on the daily is a variant of trap with dark or grungy or downtempo vibes, notwithstanding tracks (of any genre) that are just vibey or simply beautiful. I prefer instrumentals but I make a lot of exceptions; if a song has vocals I sometimes focus on how they complement the song rather than what's being said. Genres I like include:
Djent (Tesseract is and will always be special to me and I will never not get excited over crazy time signatures), Chill Trap, Vapor Trap, Sad Trap, Synthpop, Witch House, Dark Wave, Hard Wave, Trance, Psytrance, Deep Techno, Underground Hip-Hop, unsettling horror, certain game soundtracks and
Jazz actually, especially when it's merged with synth
I play a lot of SW: The Old Republic. This the game that's gotten me through depression, to put it in perspective. Currently, I'm hitting that and 112 Operator. Most of the games I play or would consider favorites are single player experiences: Skyrim, Fallout, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Assassin's Creed, Sleeping Dogs, Dishonored, The Sims, Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Fallen Order, A Plague Tale, Doki Doki Literature Club etc. I love psychological horrors, in games (but movies too.) One of my favorites is Observation and I've been curious about a game called GTFO. I have a ton of horror games but they've just been piling up; I do like to scare myself before bed but to be honest I've been holding off on them in preference to experiencing them with someone else. Which leads me to a lil idea I have: doing let's plays via Discord. I'm thinking - you start the game I'll get the popcorn? Preferably horror but it doesn't have to be. I'm down to play or watch, and voice chat - though of course texting is fine. I don't do moba, strategy or PvP stuff. I have a few coop games such as GTA, The Division (1), Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Borderlands, Saints Row, and if you have other suggestions I'm all ears. Oh and I only have the one PC I built and no other consoles for now.

And that's that. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. If anything connected with you, or you have any questions, don't hesitate to comment or message! I'm also on Telegram and Discord. Start any way you like, but maybe start by writing something super weird, or sharing an interest you have in common with me, or what interests you generally. It's up to you though. No pressure. Oh and, if you just wanna hit it once because I'm non-judgmental and you need to run it by someone, I'm okay with that too. *edited to cleanup and to fix link

When a disaster strikes, it's usually the first hours that are the most hectic and stressful as you try to get your bearings, assess your situation, and figure out where to go from there. Hunger or great deviations from what you and your family consider a normal diet and routine is only going to add to your stress and thus, potentially damage your decision making. . A 72 hour food kit is primarily two things:
a first line of defense against un-needed stress and distraction, so you can focus on things other than keeping things normal during meal times.
a well-planned and quick way to grab what you need to food-wise for a temporary evacuation of your home. You don't want to hear or realize that you need to leave your home NOW and waste precious time frantically trying to figure out what food you need. You can grab your kit and load it into the car and check food off the list.
The final thing that a 72 hour food kit is, is a comfort buffer, because you need time after the start of a disaster to figure out if it's going to be temporary or more permanent. Bearing the above in mind, food you place in a 72 hour food kit should:
Not require heat or electricity to eat (heat preferred is one thing, but it shouldn't be essential)
Not require refrigeration
Not require any complicated tools or processing
Be relatively fast to prepare
SHOULD be foods you'd like to eat normally (if you hate fish, canned sardines is a bad idea, etc)
Should be as close to a "normal" meal as possible (don't try to make your family live off of peanut butter and beef jerky for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the first 72 hours of a disaster)
So here's in what's in my kit for 2 adults. Once my little one arrives and is actually eating food and not breastmilk/formula, this will be adjusted slightly to include them too! I will include notes where applicable, as we have had to use our 72 hour food kit during a pretty awful blizzard that knocked out our power for 4 days. We mixed and matched, so this still provided flexibility ( i.e. Day 1, breakfast a, lunch c, dinner b. Day 2, breakfast a, lunch b, dinner a. Day 3, breakfast b, lunch a, dinner c). We ate a lot of the stuff cold/as-is, and the stuff we heated we did so over a little hibachi, directly in the can. Canned goods are great for the fact that you can heat them up directly in their container. We keep our kit in a single, labeled cardboard box in our coat closet near the door for easy access. We also keep a list inside of it with all of the items laid out meal by meal to cut down on confusion and trying to remember what goes with what. Your kit should be assembled together into a container (or 3 containers, one per day) and should be labeled with the date you assembled it. As usual with food storage, rotate your food items. Breakfast A (to be eaten twice) - Cold cereal with milk and fruit -1 vacuum sealed bag of cereal -2 pouches powdered milk, each will make a pint of milk (just needs water to reconstitute) -1 can of peaches in syrup -2 plastic spoons, 2 paper bowls Notes: I include plastic and paper utensils and dishes because during an emergency situation with potentially limited water, keeping dishes is not something most people want to or should be worrying about. Also, the milk may seem sparse but this isn't for drinking, purely to go on the cereal. Evaporated milk would have easily worked, too. . Breakfast B - Spam on toast with fruit -1 can turkey spam -1 sleeve melba toast -1 can fruit cocktail in syrup -2 paper plates, 1 plastic knife, 2 plastic forks Note: My husband and I needed a break from cereal, but feel free to just do cereal straight if it doesn't bother you. . Lunch A - Modified ploughman's lunch -Large summer sausage -2 sleeves crackers -1 can whole corn kernals -1 can fruit cocktail in syrup -2 "lunch sized" bags of chips -2 paper plates, 2 plastic forks, 1 plastic knife Note: The lunch bag size of chips were a good pick me up because they were the flavors we preferred, i.e. barbecue for my husband and vinegar for me. . Lunch B - Spicy Chicken Salad -2 cans chicken -2 mayo packets -4 mustard packets -4 hot sauce packets -1 jar roasted red peppers -2 sleeves crackers -2 cups of sealed applesauce -1 paper bowl, 2 paper plates, 1 plastic fork, 2 plastic spoons . Lunch C - Spaghetti-os -2 cans spaghetti-os with meatballs -1 can green beans -1 can of pears in syrup -2 bowls, 2 spoons . Dinner A - Beef Stew and potatoes -1 large can of beef stew -1 can peas (mix into stew) -1 can diced tomatos (mix into stew) -1 can shoestring potatoes -2 fruit leathers -2 paper bowls, 2 plastic spoons Note: When we used our kit we didn't mix stuff into the stew and wished in hindsight that we had to make it feel more like dinner and less like Hey, let's eat this can of stew. Potato chips would probably work in place of the shoestrings, but the shoestrings felt more "dinnery". . Dinner B - Spaghetti -2 large cans spaghetti with meatballs -2 packaged breadsticks -1 can green beans -2 sealed cups of applesauce -2 paper plates, 2 plastic forks, 2 plastic spoons . Dinner C - Clams Casino -4 cans clams -1 bottle bacon bits -1 can chopped green peppers -4 mayo packets -2 sleeves crackers -1 paper bowl, 2 paper plates, 1 plastic fork, 2 plastic spoons . Snacks -2 pop-tarts -2 beef jerky sticks -2 granola bars -1 bag dehydrated fruit -1 bag of nuts -2 chocolate bars with nuts Notes: When we used our original kit, we only had poptarts and fruit snacks as snacks.... now we try to keep a good mix of sweet and savory, carb and protein. . Drinks -6 packets of hot cocoa -6 packets of instant coffee -3 teabags -9 packets of crystal light, powdered lemonade, etc Notes: We didn't even think about drinks and when it was all said and done, we added them in because we were looking through our pantries for instant drink stuff anyway. This is a purely personal thing but in an even more dire situation than ours, it can be a good morale boost to have a yummy drink besides just water. . Extras -Napkins -1 basic metal can opener -a small package of popsicle sticks/wooden sticks (for stirring stuff) -1 travel-size pack of handwipes that re-seals -1 pack of gum Notes: An emergency is a bad time to not be able to locate your can opener and the stirrers were something we added after discovering how much we needed them while using our kit. The handwipes were indispensible especially because we were in the dead of winter and washing your hands in freezing water when there's no heat is not a fun time. . Hopefully this was insightful and helpful for someone, and hopefully for a brand new prepper or someone thinking about jumping on board, this provides a nice point to start at. A 72 hour food kit is one of the very first things I put together before I began more in-depth prepping, and it's a good exercise to get you into the mindset without being totally overwhelming. If you use coupons or what you may already have in your pantry, it can be a relatively cheap endeavor as well.
